Students graduating in Fall are only eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony the following June. Students graduating in Summer are eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony in June. NOTE : The cutoffs fluctuate year to year, depending on final class standing.

UCI graduation sashes and stoles representing UCI organizations or proclaiming a vocational aspiration may be worn with cap and gown. Wearing multiple stoles is permitted. You may submit a Request for Name Change to ask that your name be changed on university records. All diplomas will reflect the exact name on your student records. Deans are responsible for certifying that students have met GPA, unit, residence, breadth, university, minor, school and major requirements. Awarding a degree signifies completion of coursework on or by the degree certification deadline.
Transcripts of work taken at other institutions must be received by the university and posted to the academic record by the deadline. When UCI course work is completed after the deadline or credit is given for course work completed elsewhere after the degree certification deadline, the degree should be award for the following quarter. At this point in time, we do not know when we will be able to hold our traditional in-person Commencement ceremony again.
We also do not know what future ceremonies might look like once we do return to in-person ceremonies. We are providing this opportunity now for graduates to cross the stage this June. The Commencement Office cannot provide information about individual student graduates or their reservations to anyone except the graduate. The schools are in charge of selecting their speakers. Sometimes schools rotate responsibility for providing speakers, and not every school will provide a speaker every year.
Students interested in available opportunities should contact the Student Affairs office of their school for information on how to apply to be a student speaker. If a graduate wants to watch but does not want their name included, they should not register. Only graduates that register will be included in the virtual ceremony. Will graduates be given guidelines for their slide submissions? Registered grads have the option to submit Your photo — Submit a high resolution photo for best results. Written message — characters maximum.
Your message will display on the slide exactly as it is put into the text box. Double-check for spelling errors, etc. Once your degree has been awarded, your academic record is final and no changes can be made to it. Upon completion and the awarding of your degree, you must apply and receive approval to re-enter as a second baccalaureate student by an academic counseling office.
To re-enter as a graduate student, you must apply for a graduate program through the Graduate Division Office. Your academic record cannot be changed after the awarding of your degree. Graduation and Commencement Undergraduate Students In order to be awarded a degree, you must file an Application for Graduation with the appropriate academic advising office, preferably during the first quarter of your senior year, but no later than the deadline set by your advising office.

Commencement Program Students who earn their degrees in Summer Session, Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters, and the following Summer Session are eligible to have their name and major included in the Commencement Program. Diplomas Students are issued one diploma for each degree awarded. Diplomas are generally available: Early July for winter degrees Mid-October for spring degrees Mid-January for summer degrees Mid-April for fall degrees. When you fill out the application, be sure to indicate minors, concentrations and specializations that you may be completing. Please also ensure that your diploma notification address and telephone number are correct. Once the online Application has been submitted, only a Bren School academic counselor may make changes to it.
