So you definitely do not want to buy a glass that has any kind of connector on it. You just want the glass. My guess is that the sellers offering the glass with a connector on it are trying to take advantage of unsuspecting buyers. That said, the process of removing the old, broken glass is not trivial. Unfortunately it sounds like you broke the LCD. This requires the full-front screen assembly to be replaced and is much more expensive. HI I replaced the S3 LCD screen of my phone after i cracked the screen, its replaced fine and touch functions all working in perfect condition, however the back touch button and the left touch button are not working.
Pls suggest if it can be fixed. Unfortunately you are probably going to have to purchase the entire new front-screen assembly. This would be a simple piece to replace except that Samsung built the GS3 with that ribbon cable going underneath the LCD. The only way to replace it is to pry the LCD up. At this point, if you really want those buttons to both work, my suggestion is to buy the full front screen assembly with the frame and buttons already in place.

My galaxy s3 dropped and screen cracked a little but still usable for now. My personal recommendation would be one of the various Otterbox cases. I have a gs3 and it got ran over and there are about 5 points in the screen that are not only cracked but crushed. They are down to small crystals at some places about the size of sand.

They sell kits but it says lcd display and touch screen.. They are different depending on your carrier. Make sure whatever full assembly you buy works for that model. I also recommend, if you go this route, that you move that sticker under the battery over.
It has your IMEI number on it and you may want that in the future. Unfortunately, at this point, you will need to buy a full LCD screen assembly to fix your phone.

One caveat for you is water damage. In that case, a new screen assembly might not be the solution. How do you check if the water damage sensors are tripped? My screen has had a nice crack right across it for the past 3 weeks. Worked fine but now has gone black. But if you get the temperature just right we use an infrared thermometer to ensure this , the adhesive releases easily without damaging the LCD. What does all this mean for you? Was this useful? It is not managed by iFixit staff. Say you dropped your phone and the glass is now cracked but the display is still working. If your phone already has a protective screen applied to it, you are ready to begin.
If it doesn't, cut a piece of packaging tape the size of the screen and apply it to the screen. This will help you remove the broken glass later. With a plastic opening tool, pry open the back case. It will come out very easily. At this point you can already go to the next step, which is using a heat gun. However I felt safer by taking out the motherboard too. This will loosen the glue but not damage the electronics. Hold the gun at about 3 inches from your phone in this picture it looks like its right on top.
With the heat gun set to low, heat up the borders for about 3 to 5 minutes depending on the strength of your heat gun. You must be careful when using the heat gun on this device. If the device is heated up too much then it may melt the digitizer and cause discoloration.
If you start to see any discoloration then shut off the gun immediately. This melts the glue that holds the glass to the frame and to the display. The glass is glued to them. Using a guitar pick or a plastic opening tool, very carefully start to work separating the edges of the glass. You will need to use the heat gun a number of times as you go down separating the glass. For glasses with lots of damage you will need to go extra carefully as to not damage the LCD with the shattered glass pieces.
When you start separating the screen, you need to start from the top borders and work your way to the center , ungluing the whole screen from top to bottom.
Leave some opening tools in to prevent the glass from bonding again to the LCD. Be extra careful when you get to the bottom because the menu buttons are glued to the glass. Do not pull the glass just yet, you might damage the cables. Pull the screen from the top to the bottom to the point where you can see the menu and return button cables.
Extra attention is necessary with this step, don't damage the buttons or cable! With a spudger, detach the buttons from the inner side of the glass. This might require a little extra heat. Also, the best strategy is to start in the middle, under the black ribbon that connects the two buttons, and then move sideways to separate each one. If your glass is very shattered you will need to pick up the small pieces with tweezers, one by one or stick tape to the glass before you take it out.
You can also use screen protectors. Take this small metal piece from your old glass, you will need to put it in the new one.
